Learn to Read Music Time Signatures Final Lesson!
Of course, there are some other time signatures that aren’t seen as frequently.
There are two time signatures that aren’t numeric. The symbol c means, “common time”, which is the same as 4/4 time.
The symbol C means “cut time”. In cut time, each not is only worth half its normal value. For example, a whole note normally gets 4 beats, but in cut time it gets 2 beats. If we notated this numerically, it would be 2/2 – 2 beats per measure with the half note receiving one beat.
