Learn How to Read Music
Yes because you need to learn notes by reading sheet music if you want to play an instrument well. If you don’t, then you can only play things you made up or play by ear. If you can do both read music and play by ear then you are really good at your instrument of choice.
How to Read Music Notes
Yes because if you’re serious about it you’ll be entering a community of professionals and you have to know their ‘language’.
Learning to Read Music
It is better to be able to read sheet music, although I have known a few violinists actually who could not read music itself. if you told them to play an A they knew what it was, or tehy could play by ear they just couldnt read teh actual music so its not impossible its just difficult. Like I learned scales on the flute before I was taught to read music and it wasn’t that horrible of a transtion but I know that if I had never been taught how to read music life would have been much harder in teh music world for me.
How to Sight Read Music
i think yes, so you can play instrument easily afterwards because most of the pieces are in sheet music. but you can play without that, you can just memorize or write down the exact keys (e.g F F# D Db A E) but you will turn up a memorizer, not a natural musician who just look in a sheet music and can play.
