abcdefg asked:

Or is that only for text, in books and stuff?

If they do read music backwards, to they need to get it transposed especially if they want to play a western piece, or do they have to learn to read it left to right, top to bottom?

Very funny! They only read it backwards if they want to!

Actually, Chinese people read from left to right just as we do, and the women are no different anatomically than westerners. Old, ancient texts were written right to left, but that is no longer the case. Also mainland Chinese drive on the right just as we do in the US.

No. They read music the same way whether it’s westen or traditional instruments’ music scores.

They use the same music notation as everyone else.

As for reading texts, it used to be vertically downwards, back to front, and then more recently, horizontally, back to front. However today books and everything else are printed front to back.

No. Music is the same everywhere exept probably arabic, the rest they read the regular standard notation that we do here.

Actually if you want to know the americans are the ones that are switching things, composers such as milton babbit have changed music and rewritten already existent music, they rewrite the music upside down and bawckwards and create experimental music and many other styles.

So you see its the americans that came up the backwards idea, not the chinese =p
