    Its easier if you have an ear for music but it may be harder trying to read it.

    How Long Does it Take to Learn How to Read Music?

    Yeah, it depends. Generally people who find it easy to read find it easy to read music. It took me about a year to read it confidently, but some people pick it up in a matter of a couple of months.

    By the way, it’d be easier to learn the flute. It’s just easier, to play duets and things, because most things are pitched to a concert C, which the flute is. It’s hard to explain if you don’t know music, but just trust me.

    How Long Does it Take to Learn How to Read Music?

    The Saxophone or any other wind instrument is arguably easier to learn to read for than piano, guitar or drum set because you are only ever playing one note at a time. Drums are obviously easier as far as learning scales goes. As long as you learn to count the rhythms, time signatures and learn your scales and fingerings you will pick it up in no time but it takes effort and you have to put in lots of practice time to get real results. If you are a couch potato or would rather spend your time playing PC games or watching TV forget it. You will need to PRACTICE !
