learn how to read guiter tabs and read guitar music?


Cal asked:

got an acoustic guitar (wanting to learn some frank turner songs) but can’t read tabs or music :S help?

    How to Read Music Notes

    tab is is simple, all you need to know is the strings and how to count. tab will give you fret names, these are the numbers you see. hopefully you can see here that you play open e string and then fret one on the e string. this is all tab is. it gives no timing though so you may have to watch the song on youtube to get the rhythm and timing.

    You could devote some quality time by learning the rudiments of reading music notation by picking up a guitar beginner’s book, such as Hal Leonard’s Beginning Guitar Method Book One. Inside are basic instructions and good exercises in music theory, that, if applied, will teach you how to read music.

    Otherwise, you will be severely limited to learning any song in the music world by an imperfect method called tablature. You could learn how to read music should you set your mind and motivation to it and stick with the program. But if you’re a quitter and always want the easy way out then tablature will have to do for you.

    How Long Does it Take to Learn How to Read Music?

    well if you already have the chords and are having a hard time reading the paper with the neck of the guitar facing upward turn the paper or sheet of music you have sideways, its easier to read the chords that way because the neck of the guitar is sideways and it makes it easier to place your fingers because it shows you exactly were to place them and which fret and string to place them on. Hopefully i answered your question correctly, sorry if i didnt :S.
