    Yes, but now I’m curious. What instrument do you play? How old are you? I suppose it’s possible to be musically talented and not know how to read music, but it seems unlikely. Unless you’re younger than 12, having no knowledge of music bodes badly for your chances at a music degree…..

    Geeze, are you for real? Well, 300 years ago they used a different notation system in Asian countries, one that is still used for traditional fok and court music (i.e., gagaku, sinawi, pansori, etc.) However, all western music, such as pop (like K-pop/J-pop), classical, jazz, etc. uses the universal western music notation system in those countries. So assuming you will be writing for guitar, piano, violin, etc. and not shakuhachi, daegeum, koto, kayageum, etc. (although those can read western notation too!) you’ll be just fine.
