I was in chorus and band for a few yrs in middle and high school so I think I have good musical knowledge. Has your child benefited from learning to play music at a young age?

I’m not a parent, but I’m a musician myself and I think it’s a great idea to start something like that now. I only wish I started playing the saxophone back when I was young instead of in 4th grade. I always feel like I’ve lost so many years to it in comparison to those around me who started at around 4 years old.

    How to Sight Read Music

have met many people who have taught their young children music and the effect it has had is that their children seem well balanced. They also seem better able to concentrate once they get into school, and If a child learns Piano and to read music it is supposed to make it easier for them to learn any other musical instrument in the future. The only concern I would have is that If a parent is sending /teaching their child musical instruments that it is because that’s what the child wants, not what they wish had been able to do as a child. There are some children that show no interest in music/drama/art/ect ever and that’s ok, But If your child is showing any interest in music then I would suggest you go for it and teach them all you can ?

All 4 of my children (16,14,7 & 4)have start music lessons generally piano from the age of 3. My youngest start at 2 when we found him playing his then 12 year old sisters music perfectly. My children have gained much confidence from music lessons and instantly had connections with other children who play instruments, it has also offer many educational opportunities which have and continue to enrich my children’s lives.

Yes, you never know your toddler could be a muisical prodigy. I started playing guitar when I was 13 and It came natrually I progressed so fast and Ive been playing for 5 years now I havent taken one lesson. I wish my parents would have taught me how to play. or atleast gave me a guitar. because at that age you dont even know what a guitar or in your childs case a piano. I think when he/she grows up he/she will thank you. and hey If they dont like it. Make them. because my grandpa was going to teach me how to play golf when I was little and I said no thats boring but now that Im older I regret saying that I really like golf and wish he would have made me. I think you should teach him/her. When I have children im going to make them lol. because later in life they will thank me and plus when they get to be alot older they will know if thats really what they want to do. So YES.
