pupe dek asked:

I have been playing guitar for two years and, like most guitarists, i have been reading only TABs. but I DO know how to read the music. i played other instruments before so i know how to read treble clef. but i am unable to read the music AND play it on guitar.

can some people recommend a beginner book for guitar to learn to read and play music. i dont want books with TABs under the music because that just reuins the whole point in trying to learn to read music
im looking for exact names of books

Try finding a book on music theory for guitar. There is literally hundreds! Although tabs are much easier and quicker to decipher unless your really good with reading music and know where the notes are on the fretboard. Good luck and keep learning!

    How to Sight Read Music

It appears that you know the notes on the staff.

    E-F-F#-Gb-G-G#-Ab-A-A#-Bb-B-
    C-C#-Db-D-D#-Eb-E-F

There are no flats or sharps between B & C, and none between E & F.
This also follows on the guitar, throughout music.

If you contact me I can send a couple sheets of the staff and one for the guitar as an attachment, to your address.

There are many good books but I’ve lost track of some.

Hal Leonard’s Method #1 for beginners has an excellent portion that explains notation for the guitar. Although the theory is rudimentary for you, it will help you learn what notes are located on the guitar.

The book is in any reputable music store.
