learn chords & scales….chords first. pick your favorite song, get the chords, & learn it. with time & energy investment, youll be pretty good within 6 months.

There is no really fast way but the first answer was correct. Chords first and you can knock out a backing. Then learn the blues scale, it’s about the most versatile. the main thing is practise every day for as long as you can.

Depends on your definition of ‘fast’ & what your goals are.
A person can show you 5 simple chords BUT! b/c you don’t know anything about the instrument you first have to get used to holding a set of strings down in these weird shapes on the fretboard. Once you develop the strength to hold them down well enough that the chord will ring out clearly, then you have to get good enough to change between chords quickly enough & cleanly enough.
How much work you put into it (not to mention how much natural talent you have for the instrument) will determine, then, how ‘quick’ you pick it up.
Plus there’s a question of style. Folksy style is different from pedal-to-the-floor rock, which are different from ska, punk, reggae, etc. Each has its own ‘schtick’ to be able to play it. The more experience you gain w/ the instrument the better you’ll be able to play different styles.
