Learn How to Read Music Notes
I just sort of did it when i was learning and in the exams you take it was the one bit I could do easily – I guess looking at the whole sheet of music as you play it and not just the bar you are on, having a general feel for the rhythm of the music and speed it should be played at, and looking out for pesky little bits that are designed to catch you out. The best thing to do is buy lots of it and keep practicing new material all the time – Practice makes perfect and if you are used to it you will find it so much easier! If you do get it wrong though it isn’t the end of the world, just go back and figure out what stumped you – if it seems to be the same thing all along work at it until you get better

A technique I have sort of used myself (which means it may or may not work) is this:
1. Play the piece at the right rhythm. Speed doesn’t matter. Playing wrong notes doesn’t matter, but keep at the perfect rhythm.
2. Play the piece with the right notes. Don’t press notes until you are certain they are correct. Rhythm doesn’t matter.
3. Once you have done those, play the piece together and try to be as correct as possible.
Rinse and repeat.

I don’t think there are any shortcuts; just practice and eventually it gets easier.

If you live near a library with a good music section, check out as much piano music as you can.
Find something which is easy enough that you can play it without mistakes, but difficult enough that you can’t EASILY play it without mistakes.
If you don’t live near a library with a good music section, save money by ordering something that comes in thick volumes.
Tell us what level you’re at and maybe we could help you better.
My piano professor suggested the Mozart sonatas and the Schubert sonatas.
If you’re on an intermediate level, the Sonatina Album would be good.
Playing through entire church hymnals would also be good.
