The response from Andrew Wasson , of Creative Guitar Studio, to: “Can you do a video lesson that explains how to read music notation (not tab) on the guitar? There are so many of the exact same notes on the neck that I cant understand how the process of where the notes should be played specifically actually works when a guitarist reads music notation. Thanks, Vincent, NY. Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio covers the process of how guitarists can learn how to organize the music notes …

I believe he’s referring to the range… ie: between the open position to the 5th position (5th fret) is what he references when playing notes appearing below the musical staff, while playing notes between the 5th & 10th frets when the notes are “inside” the staff… then from 10th thru 15th frets would be played when referencing notes that extend above the musical staff…

I have been playing on/off for 20 years and played by shapes but never really learnt the fretboard 100%.
As a guitarist you have the final choice on where you want play a piece. How many instruments let you do that?
Andrew great explanation on how to unlock the guitar fretboard in 10 mins!!

Really? Look, I can’t read music notes, I might as well be reading Hieroglyphs, but Andrew explained it very well and I can actually see how it works at least.

This is probably one of the best guitar lesson channels on the web IMO. This guy should be making so much more money with the way he teaches!

I’ve been with you from the start of your youtube channel Andrew, and you’re getting better and better at explaining things even more clearly every time – i’d never thought about the whole three positions for notes under in and above the stave before, but it’s a great way of learning. Thank you very, very much.

I think your videos sit in a really nice Intermediate-advanced level. Too many videos just trudge the basics.

Thank you for this lesson. As with all your other videos you manage to get in all the relevant information in a very concise and well explained manner. I’ve learned more from your videos than any number of books I own.
