Before getting into actually reading music, there are some basic terms that you need to know.
THE STAFF
If you were writing words, you might write them on lined paper or notebook paper. Music is written on the staff . The staff consists of 5 lines (and 4 spaces).
Looking at all these lines and spaces seems like it might be confusing, but don’t worry! There are guides that will help you read the music quickly. These guides are called clefs and they’re what we’ll be discussing next time!
