We’ve now covered a few of the basics you music know to Learn to Read Music: the bass clef and the treble clef. We’re slowly laying the building blocks to help you learn how to read music, read music notes confidently and understand fundamental music theory. Now let’s combine what we’ve learned so far…

 

Since piano players use two hands to play, the music for each hand is written on a separate clef.  The treble clef is for the right hand notes and the bass clef is for the left hand notes.  When both of these staves are written together, it is called the Grand Staff.
