bass clef is low, treble clef is high. they connect in notes. here is an example
you will not be changing or reading both clefs unless you are playing piano.

Both clefs can show any number of pitches, depending on where the notes are at. But the treble clef is higher than the bass clef.
The line or space a note is at determines its pitch.
The lines on the treble clef from bottom to top, are E G B D F
The spaces on the treble clef (in between the lines) from bottom to top are F A C E
The lines on the bass clef from bottom to top are G B D F A
The spaces from bottom to top are A C E G

ok. any staff has 5 lines no matter what clef is being used. again, the clef represents more of the instruments range. for example a guitar, which uses treble clef has a higher range than a bass which uses bass clef. you can hear that just by listening to the instrument. draw 5 lines on a piece of paper and another 5 below those. The top 5 will be treble clef, the bottom 5 will be bass clef. Now draw a note with a line through it in between the 2 staves. The note in between is middle C. This is the transition between treble and bass clef. All the notes will go up or down in alphabetical order. For instance, if you start at middle c and move up 1 space, you are on D in treble clef. Move to the next line you are on E, next space is F, etc… If you start on middle C and move DOWN one space you would be on B in the bass clef. Move down again to the line, you are on A, down again to the space you are on G, Etc…It doesnt represent the pitch, it tells you which pitch will be on which line or space. If you look at both together as I described it should make more sense, but realize that most instruments only play the clef that corresponds to their instrument which means when you look at a piece of music you will only have 1 staff to look at. When a bass player looks at the top line they see an A. When a guitar or player looks at the top line they see F. Piano players use both at the same time, 1 for each hand. Draw it out, it should make sense
