Sara asked:

I understand everyone is different and some things come easier to some than others, however i would like to learn to read both. I simply would like to know in your experience was it easier for you to read tabs than transition to sheet music or vice versa?

When it comes to playing rhythms sheet music is easier but for finding notes as a beginner tabs are easier.

Tabs is way easier to learn if you have the song to listen to. If you don’t have the song to listen to then sometimes tabs aren’t very helpful however. Sheet music is harder to learn, but once you do you can more easily play without having to listen to the song.

tabs are easier to read but sheet music is more specific ( eighth note, quarter note, instead of just play this note and try to figure out how to make it sound like it does in the song)
and sheet music crosses over to any instrement you may learn to play in the future, and tabs do not.

also sheet music is a better visual representation of melody than tabs.
