I’m a drummer and I’m quite good but I’ve never seen any drummer performing live play from sheetmusic or reading and playing. How helpful then is reading music to a drummer?

    How to Sight Read Music

it is always important to learn how to read music. It opens SO many new doors, and it get’s a whole lot easier for you to develop as a drummer if you can read music as well as play it. trust me (not because I’m a drummer, but because I love to play music on other instruments, and it helped me) :D

To add to “Same Old Scene”, I’ve used hundreds of drummers, in my bands, and every once in a while, I would run into a drummer that could read music, this helped me a lot because he would help me with musical decisions , and this formed a closer relationship with him and the other band members!! The best drummer we ever used was one that knew how to read music, and knew how to set a P A excellently, this helped my band sound really good!!
