James Howlett asked:
I’ve been writing poetry for a while, and I’ve recently decided that what I’d really like to do is write songs. I’d like to take up guitar in the near future, but first I wanted to try writing songs a cappella. My goal is to learn how to read and write music, so what’s the best way to start?

How to Read Music Notes
The best way to start is to learn some basic Music Theory and take you skills on from there.. I’m a music student and here’s a site you should check out.
Really good site. It’ll teach you how to read music and such… And you can always shoot me an email if you need help ^_^
learn to read music
You don’t need to know how to read music to play guitar. Just learn chords, there’s a lot of great guitarists that cant read music.
If you really want to learn how to read and write music then find a book on music theory.
Learn How to Read Music
I honestly think you should go take college courses if music is what you want to pursue.
start by taking music theory while also taking sight sing/ear training. I am a music major and those courses are vary usefull, especially if you want to write four part voice music.
But if you do not want to take college courses here’s some good sights.
