Howdy! (I’m from Texas, what can I say..?)

Ok so if you want to learn to read music, how much should you pratice? I’ve heard alot of different answers and too many of them are just plain wrong so I thought I’d tell you my opinion.

First, you’ve got to make that you’re using exercises designed to teach you to begin thinking musically, not just memorizing lines and spaces… We’ve all done it, it just doesn’t work long term… you’ll only be a slow music reader that way. Also, you want to make sure you’re using exercises designed to help you learn to read music FAST. Anyone can learn to read music eventually, but if you don’t want it to take months and years like it takes most people you need to use a program designed for speed. (of course if you’ve already invested in Speedy Music Reading, you’ve got both of these covered… if you haven’t yet, what are you waiting on?)

So once you’ve got those covered you can begin practicing. You should practice 15-20 minutes a day, no more. It’s easy to feel really motivated one and study for an hour or two, but you’re not doing yourself any favors. Study 15-20 minutes per day as close to every day as possible, your results will be infinately better than if you do hours of study a few times per week. Hope this helps!
