i want a proffessional program that can teach how to play piano, read notes, learn music theory, sightread, and other skills for a piano player to know. i already know basic things, but i am slow at reading, i make many mistakes, and so on. i am willing to practice alot, but want a nice good program to assist in me learning the piano.

keep in mind i dont want lessons as i cant fit that into my schedule, having a program will allow me to learn what i need at night when i am actually not busy. so please dont recommend lessons, i know its one of the best ways and i will get them later in the summer when i have more time. i also can
spend about an hour or two practicing (once again during the night) so any help would be appreciated. thank you

It was a radio interview and a caller asked a question, basically, “Why do we still teach people how to read music the old slow way that hasn’t changed in at least 200 years??”

The speaker essentially said, “yes there are faster ways to learn to read music, but it’s important to still study classical music” (which I agree with by the way), but she didn’t even answer the question!! If there’s a faster way to teach people how to read music it needs to be taught. I’ve been saying this for years and FINALLY it sounds like people are starting to listen. Music theory, learning to read music, and fundamental music education don’t have to be antiquated, but they are in the normal ways music are taught.
